Goodbye to my teenage years; Me at 17!

So I just wanted to start by saying thankyou everyone who has been reading this little series, I get about 100+ Views a post which is amazing ! Leave me some feedback either on Twitter or in the comments <3 (Cause I know a lot of you come from my twitter followers haha)

So!
Me and allyssa at my 17th Birthday :D
Yup she came all the way to pmac just for my bday :D

So 17 was a HUGE!!! and I mean, HUGE year for me!

  • I got my first full-time job
  • I got my first real boyfriend
  • I had my first car accident
  • I got accepted into University!
  • Grade 12

Pretty exciting eh?
As you can see, the closer to my age now that we get, the more things I begin to remember! ;)

So right after I turned 17 is when I got my job at the visitor centre, the summer between grade 11 and grade 12.
It was a great job and ended up working ther for a total of 3 summers, and it was totally great! I loved that job and I had so much fun with everyone who worked there! Carrie and Brooke (in 2009), you guys made that job awesome ! And Cheryl too of course, my awesome boss!
not being there this year I actually really miss it!
I learned a lot about talking to people and costomer service, to the point where I am pretty much a master of pretending to care about what strangers have to say to me ;) hahahah, only joking! well half joking, sometimes I really don't care! but sometimes people do have some pretty awesome things, or stories, to tell!

I also started grade 12 , which was huge! GRade 12 was by far the best year of high school for me. alot of the people who had bullied me, had graduated and things were a lot easier at school. I think that everyone in my grade too, just all started getting along. It was like we were all sick of high school and we all silently agreed that we should just all get along for the last year. For the most part everyone did, I mean there is always drama but it was a much more relaxed year!

I was also accepted into University which was AMAZING. One of the best feelings of my life! And I have loved Uvic for the most part, great school, not too hard to get into, and not *overly* expensive! but still pretty expensive, compared to a college haha.

I also got my first boyfriend. DUN DUN. Well, first real boyfriend haha. As almost everyone knows I dated greg for..about 5 months? I think.
I wont talk about it too much just kinda...out of respect? hahaha.
but it was a really good experiance...? for me anyways :D and I'm lucky enough that me and him are still good friends. I think im like the only person I know who is still on speaking terms with their high school boyfriend haha. But ya, I learned a lot, and it was...ya it was good :) I wont say anymore haha.

I also had a pretty life changing experiance, I was in a car accident. Hit loose gravol on the side of the road, I don't remember it happening at all, but they found me in the ditch. They say it wasn't my fault so everyone just shush haha.

awwww poor emily.

I had a really really bad brain contusion, which is like a concussion but..worse and lasts a lot longer. It made it impossible for me to go to school for awhile and my poor physics mark completely dropped because I was only able to do half days of school for about 2 months afterwards, and since it happened in march that didn't leave much of the year left, sadly.

Well! I think that is all for now...
yup.
I think so

That was 17!
It was a great year and I learned TONS and the whole car accident thing definitly made me rethink my priorities!

LOVE YOU ALL

Goodbye to my teenage years; My Sweet 16!

So in todays blog we shall take a look back at me when I was a mere 16 years old :)

Well here is me at 16.  Fresh with  my Learners Permit!
brb crying over how skinny I was.

So 16 was grade 11! and probably the hardest year of school I had to endure. hate to start out negative but this was the year that I almost dropped out of NISS, because of bullying. A lot of you don't know this, and some of you who did know might remember, but it was a really hard time for me, which is why now I definitely and whole heartedly support anti-bullying campaigns. It really is a shitty thing to have to deal with!

To be honest I'm having a really hard time remembering anything from 16... haha!
Well, this was the year that I met carmen.
Which actually kind of changed everything!
After I met carmen, I started going to Vancouver all the time to visit her, and Miranda.
This was the year that I also really got into JE~ (Johnny Entertainment) and fell in love with Yamapi

my sexy man

Anyways so then I joined the Canadian JE fan livejournal group and I went to the Vancouver meet up!
That's when I  met kristy as well, and because this one of my 3rd or 4th trips to vancouver to see Car and mir, I was already pretty close to them!
I also met so many really really awesome people from the CJEF group!

Everyone I love you!

Befriending Kristy and Carmen and Miranda though really did change a lot of things! I made three extremely solid friends and we had so so so many good times together, and so many more to come as well.
It was the first time in my life that I felt people truely understood, accepted and shared my love for Japan.
There was a few people in Port McNeill who also really loved Japan or anime or whatever, but this was just different!

I cant find any of just the 4 of us!
I love you guys more then you know <3
But yes! this is the year that this friendship started! and I really wouldn't of had it happen any other way!
These blogs have kind of turned into "The friends I made in my teenage years" But for me, friends are the most important things in my life, I'm a people person so the people in my life definitely are what really stand out in my mind! Anyways, yeah! these guys totally showed me a side of friendship that I never really had, one where it was never about the heavy stuff and we were always able to just meet after months of not seeing each other and just laugh and have a ton of fun.

What else happened in grade 11/16...
hmmmmmmmmm.
I don't think much else! I spent SO much of this year going to Vancouvver! haha it's all I ever spent my money on.

Also becuase I was going to vancouver so uch it also gave me the chance to get really close to my family that lives there, my aunt and uncle and cousins and of course my grandparents.
I'm really thankful for that, family is for sure the most imporatnt thing to me, ever. because once everyone else leaves you they are always the ones there for you. For some it might not be their blood relatives that are their family but I'm lucky enough that for me, that is the case.

Anyways that is all for 16!
Love you all

Goodbye to my teenage years; 15 year old Emily

So yesterday was my short but sweet look at my 13/14 year old self.
Starting at 15 is when things become more clear, so I have a lot more to write about! haha.

So this was me at 15!
As you can see I loved me some anime, I still had (and still have lol) an interesting sense of style, but my hair was normal and that is all thatbmatters :D

So 15 was a huge, and i mean huge turning point in my teenage years!

  • I made some really solid friends,
  • I turned my life back over to the lord,
  • Decided to follow the path that I am now on - studying Japanese seriously!

So in the summer of my 15th year I met Allyssa
Allyssa at AE! (bb why don't we have any pictures together from AE!? haha)

She was the reason I started even going to the mainland so much, just to go visit her. Not to mention that she also introduced me to NANA, and that became one of the things that brought us to be really close. NANA AND HACHI FOREVA ;D
We were there for eachother when both of us were having some issues with our friends and she was definitly one of the people that taught me a lot about being a good friend and having a friend who was always there to listen was awesome :) Love you Aya <3

So in this year, I was in grade 10, and I met someone whom I consider even now one of my best friends.
DANEISH IN 2006 :D hahaha

I think that a lot of people don't really understand, maybe not even dane, how much this dork ment to me in grade 10 (and sort of grade 11).  If it wasn't for him I would probably not be alive.... or I would be a LOT different then I am now. I know that it sounds pretty mellow dramatic but it is true haha. I wont go into details but this dude and allyssa are the two people that really stick out in my mind when I think about my life at 15! And despite the fact that me and him don't talk often (cause he's a dude and dudes don't know how to talk to people. LOL kidding) I still hold him close to my heart. I KNOW THIS WAS CORNY AND SAPPY :D

This is also the year that I started hanging out with what I like to call the "Sointula group" heheh, who were some of my really good friends for the remainder of high school!
Shout out to my old crew ;D haha

I starting going to youth group seriously this year and got myself sorted out. Most people don't know this but I definitly didn't conciter myself a christian from about 11 to 15. I was embarassed about it, I thought it was just stories, and I doubted it like I have never doubted anything before haha. Thats why I hate it when people scoff or roll their eyes at me, it's not like I'm following God blindly without thinkin, trust me - I thought for a long time. Anyways when I was 15 that was when I started confidently telling people that I was indeed a christian.

Also this is the year I started studying Japanese and decided that I wanted to go to University to study it further. I hadn't quite decided that I wanted to live there yet, but I definitely became more serious about it. I have always , since I was little, had an interest in Japan, but this was the year that it became more then just an interest or a far off dream.

I should of mentioned yesterday that the years of 13-15 were also the years that I started getting into Japanese anime, manga, dramas, music. My world was opened up further then the limited things I knew about Japan. Anime wasn't what got me into Japan, I had always liked it, but it did open p the world of japanese music and TV to me! Also in these years my love for video games grew a lot as well!

15 was so huge there is so much that I could talk about, but I will leave it at this!
Okay, that is all for now! :D

Goodbye to my teenage years; A Look back to my 13/14 year old self

So, as some of you may or may not know, It's my birthday on Sunday! :)
This birthday is rather special because it is my 20th birthday~

So in honour of that I'm gunna post this week, looking back at some of my favourite memories or whatever of my teenager yeears, starting with when I was 13 and 14! (ever since my car accident I've lost a lot of my memory sadly, and so a  lot of things are kind of all scrambled together, so I'm putting 13 and 14 together! haha)

Anyway....

LOL. Ya. So this was me. Do you all remember these delightful hair cuts of mine? Ya, I was hoping to forget about them forever as well.
Wasn't I a looker? LOL and that is Emily Davis and me!

On that note I would have to say one of the highlights of thoes years, the ones that really stick out in my mind are the weekends I went to Campbell river to visit Emily!
Over the years a lot of people have come and gone in my life, but Emily is one of the people that played a huge role and made a pretty big impact on my life! We aren't really close anymore but I still think she is an awesome person. I don't even know why we aren't, but that happens i guess when you are living in different towns and going through the pressures and stress of being a teen :) haha, if you are reading this Emily, I hope you are doing well and if you are ever in victoria, give me a shout!

The days I went to her house in CR were so fun, we spent hours riding horses, running around her big propery when she lived in black creek, and just walking around talking for HOURS.
one of the best memories I have is one day we went to the river on bike I think, and there was these three guys and they were skinny dipping! and I vaguely remember them like chaseing us around and we were like oh my god WTF. haha, luckily her mom or something showed up on horse back and we chased them away on her horse, sassy. I think thats what happend, I just remember it being hillllllarious :P
there are so many other good memories that I had with emily, and they are all definitly some of th best memories of my 13th and 14th years of life!

Other then that, 13 was the year I started the worst 5 years of my life haha.
Teenage years were not the easiest for me, but I learned so much and I think I survived high school a stronger person, which is good!
I didn't care much for 13 and 14 to be honest, I had just stoped riding horses, and I missed it so so so much, and as you can see, I was having troubles figureing out who I was and where I fit in life, as we all do at that age!

Anyways that is it for today, and exciting look into my 15th year of life tomorrow!

Love ya!

BEDA; My Biggest Pet Peeve (probably)

Hello all :)

So, I know I kinda failed BEDA, but I did in fact blog a lot in April, and it kind of got me into the habit to at least THINK about blogging! so I should be able to keep up with it over the summer, which would be pretty cool, I think.

So, I feel like expressing my biggest pet peeve ever. Well, one of the biggest... It might be the biggest, I'm not sure, I don't really feel like deeply thinking of all the annoyances in my life, so let us just say this is the biggest.

When people ask me if I like anime

I'm pretty sure that no one has ever been asked this question more then I have. Seriously.
You see this is usually how most conversations go with me when I meet new people

Person: "Oh you go to Uvic? what do you study?"
Me: "Japanese"
Person: "Oh! Really? that's pretty cool"
Me: "Hahah...*awkward* Ya...."
Person: "So, I have to ask, is that because you like Anime?"

I shit you not, they always ALWAYS say "I have to ask"
Why do you have to ask? Seriously why?
Is your opinion of me really going to be based around the fact of something I may or may not watch in my spare time? Is that seriously important to you? Because if it is I think I want to finish this conversation.

Now, I have nothing against anime in any way shape or form.
I have, in fact, been known to watch it from time to time. Being someone who does in fact study japanese, it kind of just comes with the territory. Most people that I meet who are also studying, do in fact LOVE anime and spend a lot of their lives dedicated to it, and really, to each their own.
It isn't really the 'Anime' aspect of it that bothers me.
it's the negative intonation that people put on anime. As if all people who like anime are diseased and weird and annoying, because I swear, I know a lot of cool people who are anime fanatics. But it's like, people feel the need to find out if i watch it or not, so that they can they determine if I'm normal or not.
It's so friggin annoying.

For the record, ya, I like anime. In the way that I can apperciate it, and it's art form, and I do indeed have a few series that I watch from time to time. For me they are just TV shows, and nothing more. People spend hours gushing about the JERSEY SHORE, and I'm a loser for watching some Full Metal Alchemist? really?

Mainly, I just hate it when I'm sterotyped, and when my dream, my life, is belittled because of some peoples preconceived and ignorant ideas about Japanese culture and the "Anime nerds".
Seriously, if I was obsessed with Germany, and German was my major, people would just stop at "Oh, thats cool!"

Basically,
It's a pet peeve,
and for anyone reading this who doesn't know; there is a hell of a lot more to Japan then anime.

The end

BEDA; Turned into more of a "Blog mostly every day April"

but here are some words of wisdom :)

Haters don't hate you. They hate themselves because you're a reflection of what they want to be.

BEDA: MORE FAIL + UPDATE

I'm typing this with 8 minutes to spare again HAHA.
but this time I have a purpose and it's not a waste of time post.
UPDATE

MY NEW JOB;

I like my new job! and I like it even more because one of my friends will now be working there as well! as of tomorrow! and we have the same shifts
other that then I really like most of the people that I work with, and when I say most I don't mean I dislike some it's just that I don't now them very well and their first impression may not of been all that great. Oh well though, it's not like I'm looking to be best friends with any of these people, just gotta get along with them for the time being.

JAPAN;

I am planning, along with my friend KRisty, to go to Japan in August, for about 2 weeks. It's a really short time but hopefully I will be able to see everyone! I wil be staying with my host fam again :)
Working hard to save up the money - I'm really really stressed about it, but since I have been there (twice!) before, I'm hoping the tourist-y side of things wont weight down my costs - and I definitly wont be bringing home souvenirs for everyone like I have in the past - to cut costs of course haha.

LIFE;

Life is going well,
Japan, Job, school is out, yay :)
I have water in my ear which sucks but ya know, thats life ;)

My mom is bringing me my bed and my desk tomorrow which I have extremely excited for because that means I will have a bed and stuf...isntead of a fuuton!

Also I finally am going to see a councellor about...things :)
so ya.
life is good
it has been sunny
and ya.

okay my legs are dead from work
